Joseph to be Wigan mascot at FA Cup Final

We are delighted to announce that Joseph has been chosen to be Wigan Athletic’s mascot for the FA Cup final this weekend.

Wigan Athletic have been proud supporters of Joseph’s Goal, and a number of players – including James McCarthy, James McArthur, Gary Caldwell, Ali Al Habsi and Emmerson Boyce – as well as Roberto Martinez and Jonathan Jackson are ambassadors for the charity.

And hopefully Joseph will bring them good luck when they face Premier League champions Manchester City at Wembley in front of a global audience of around one billion.

Joseph campaign hits £40k

After only six months, over £40,000 has been raised by Joseph’s Goal for research to find better treatments and a cure for NKH. Dr Johan van Hove at the University of Colorado in Denver, USA, announces that, thanks to Joseph’s Goal funding, he has recruited another researcher to work on the NKH project.

Joseph bikeride postponed

Due to Latics reaching the FA Cup Final, the bikeride is regrettably postponed until the Autumn because several participants are involved, both with Latics and the local press. Joseph says he’d rather wait and be in the final!

Councillor Chris Ready, Cabinet Minister for Leisure at Wigan Council, presented a cheque for £1,000 to Joseph’s Goal from money donated by Today’s Community Church in Wigan.

The makers of Uncle Joe’s Mintballs announce that they are producing a special exclusive batch of blue and white sweets to celebrate Latics going to Wembley in the FA Cup. Six 1.8 kg jars are to be sold in a silent auction, with all proceeds donated to Joseph’s Goal.

The Joseph’s Goal Charity Bikeride from Wigan to Arsenal is launched, with participants Latics Chief Executive Jonathan Jackson, Latics Legend Neill Rimmer, and the Wigan Observer’s Greg Farrimond. Over twenty people are in training for the four day event.
